Hi and welcome to No BS Nursing!
A bit about me:
I have been a nurse for nearly 10 years now. The vast majority of that time has been spent as an emergency nurse. I made this site for two reasons. First, I wanted a place to record some of my thoughts about nursing and the culture that surrounds it. Second, a domain and WordPress site was on sale for $6 for a year. I get that it is 2021 and blogging is essentially a thing of the past. I suppose that if I really wanted to capture an audience, I should make a podcast or cool TikTok videos. I don’t have that kind of time on my hands so here we are.
I plan on sharing some observations and experiences from nursing and healthcare in general. I may cover everything from nursing education to the daily experience of emergency nursing to why nurses like to put so many damn letters after their names. Really whatever thoughts I have that seem interesting to me. There are a lot of good things about nursing. There are also a lot of silly and irritating things that nurses tend to do. My intent is to bring some of those things to light. There will be no “whoo-hoo! Nursing!” posts or memes (you know the type) except in the context of me saying how much I hate them. I will present my thoughts and opinions as I see them. I will cite sources when necessary, but I already spend a bunch of time doing that in my graduate school program so don’t count on this site reading like a research paper.
